Box of Dreams

This is a poem that I wrote way back in high school, circa 1993 :

Box of Dreams

by Leroy Dively

Searching through a box of dreams

Mesmerized by constant streams

Of stardust floating overhead

Your arms and legs feel made of lead

Against this weight that drags you down

You fight and kick for what is found

Above the surface of reality,

Which is a cruel monotony

Of broken dreams and shattered hopes

And mysteries, beyond our scope,

That lurk and hide beyond the light

Of reality’s endless fight

To bring you down, wrong or right

Into the fens and bogs and streams

That take away the box of dreams

The box of dreams that always seems

To taunt you with its endless screams

Of joy and love and pain and hate

To be the maker of your fate

Yet never be unraveled yet

And always be a pain to get

A glimpse of the dream contained therein

That mayhap changes at the whim

Of some poor sod who, hope dragged thin,

Decides to hope all over again

A box of dreams and mysteries solved

Influenced by the minds of all

Who deem themselves of any worth

Of any name or creed or birth

A box of dreams that has given birth

To all the worlds, the stars, the earth

I remember this poem!  You should really collect al your writing from back then and make a compilation.  Hell, just make a website called messeduppoems.com (not taken yet) and showcase them there!
